Still catching up on Christmas fun!
My Mothers of Multiples group hosts a family Christmas party each year for the kids. Its always fun with snacks, crafts, a book exchange and a visit from Santa Claus! One of the best parts of having Santa at our party is that there aren't 500 kids waiting in line to see him so once everyone gets their turn on Santa's lap - he's usually willing to visit more with the kids and chat. And let me tell you....this Santa is MAGICAL!
My kids were enthralled with him. They eagerly asked him many questions and he patiently and creatively answered each and every one of them! He told them about his elves (he has 200 of them!) and his reindeer (he has 400 of them...but only 8 pull the sleigh - a lot are in training.) Everyone's favorite elf Hermie is still working for him and still thinking about being a dentist. Rudolph and Clarice are married now and have a little reindeer family! The reindeer like to play games...but he gets frustrated with them because when he says to "spike" the ball...they don't understand him and usually put their antlers through the balls and pop them! Mrs. Clause hates when they do that and she has to fetch them a new ball.
He reassured them that if they don't have a chimney, not to fret - he has a magic key that lets him into every house (the kids begged for a photo of it! - see below!). He told them they were welcome to try to stay awake to see him come on Christmas eve - but he has Magic Dust to sprinkle on them that makes them fall asleep instantly...and sleep a good 6 hours so he can get back to the North Pole before they awake.
The kids were so entranced by the magic that Santa told them about and I must admit - us parents were pretty smitten with him, too! It was truly a neat evening to see their little minds turning as he spoke of the amazing things that he does to make Christmas happen!
